Years ago I worked as a receptionist and personal trainer for a small gym in Colorado. During my time there, I would occasionally draw to keep myself entertained and stave off boredom. I had a few managers who didn’t particularly like that I sketched during my shifts, but that didn’t stop them from exploiting my talents whenever they had a chance. I really didn’t care as long as I didn’t have to stand behind a desk and greet people, so when an opportunity came up I took it enthusiastically.

There was a particular manager there who was a fervent Harley Davidson enthusiast. One day he asked if I would be willing to design a tattoo for him and in return he would let me sketch in his office while he watched the front desk. I took him up on the offer. The details were basically to design a tattoo that would effectively discriminate against sports bikes. He wanted a scorpion representing american built motorcycles and a rat representing asian built motorcycles.

In retrospect, the image below can be misconstrued as being incredibly racist. It never occurred to me as I was creating it but now that I look at it, it is cringe worthy. For the record, and I’m sure most people who know me would concur, I am not a racist. I also know nothing about motorcycles because I don’t give a shit about motorcycles. If you find this image offensive, click here. And if you plan on posting a comment about how outraged you are, please don’t. I will relentlessly make fun of you for it.
